PhD student Fan Bu receives Schmit-Steer Award

Fan Bu has been selected to receive the Schmit-Steer Award from the University of Minnesota Medical School. The award recognizes outstanding basic scientific research in biochemistry by a PhD candidate. 

Fan’s work on filovirus and coronavirus entry and inhibition has made important contributions to virology. In just 3.5 years of doctoral training, she has been exceptionally productive, with nine first-author or co-first-author papers: one in Nature, six in PLOS Pathogens, one in Communications Biology, and one in Journal of Virology. She has additional first-authored manuscripts currently under review.
